Today i'm planning on doing a book review. I've never done one before so I'm not to sure on how to do it but I will try and see how it goes. I'm going to be talking about a book I have really enjoyed and found very exciting the whole way through. Kelly Mckain came to our school so I got it signed in a lovely glittery pen which is even more exciting for me!
To start off with, when I first saw it I didn't like the cover at all, i loathed it. I thought it was for seven year olds not 13. The title was no better but as the saying goes don't judge a book about a cover which I didn't really do and I decided to go for it.
It is a very girly book, a girl's life is falling apart, her dad's gone and left them all, she's moving, she has to leave her friends behind and so on... but when you were reading it you really felt like you were Abbie ( the main character) and all these problems was happening to you. I can't believe I'm saying this but it was like I had a connection with a book character!
The basic plot of the story is that, Abbie's dad has cheated on her mum, his business has fallen to pieces and so they have no money, literally. They can hardly eat never mind about new clothes. Her dad's gone so Abbie has to stay in this grotty old flat where you will see rats running around the landing. After living a gorgeous house in Ealing it must be a shock... huh?!
This life may seem you're worst nightmare but it's not quite as bad as you think. On her first day she meets three really important people to her Summer, Ben and the charming Marco. On the first day Abbie makes a fool of herself in front of Marco. It's pouring with rain so she can hardly see where she is going and it's only when she's inside Abbie realizes her bra can be seen under her school white shirt....
As the book continues Summer warned Abbie that Marco is not all he seems. She tells her that he messes around with girls and one moment he's holding their hands the next he ignores them and she finds out that what Summer is saying is true at the gig.
While this is all going on at school at home Abbie has a brilliant idea to earn lots of money to help her family. Her plan is to start a beauty spa in an empty shop below the flat with the money her mum got from selling the engagement ring. Liam a friendly guy from another flat helped the dream to be reality. Abbie loves making beauty products so this must be a perfect plan to help her family not fall off a cliff. With the shop beginning to unfold all Abbie needs to do is worry about Marco...
I don't want to spoil anything else but that was a sneak peek of the story.
